About Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts

For over 85 years, Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts has been one of the most trusted names in fine jewelry in the Cape Girardeau Missouri metro-region. We are a well-established jewelry store that has grown with our community from a small store to a multiple brand jeweler and gift retailer. We have served generations of families as their trusted jeweler for brilliant diamonds, beautiful fine jewelry, elegant watches, treasured gifts, custom styling and expert jewelry repairs. The staff at Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts is committed to make every customer "feel at home" through personalized service and our classic to cutting edge jewelry designs. Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts was established by William and Maxine Zickfield in 1939 on Main Street in the Old St. Charles Hotel near the Mississippi River. William and Maxine Zickfield began Zickfield's Jewelry as a family business, and mandated it to be known for long-term customer relationships and a commitment to professional customer service.

In 1968 Zickfields Jewelry moved to a new and larger building just down the street to 29 N. Main Street, in Old Towne Cape Girardeau's Downtown Historic District where Zickfields Jewelry and Gifts still operate from today.

At 14 years of age, William and Maxine Zickfield's son, Kent Zickfield began working at Zickfields Jewelry after school and during summers. He graduated from Cape Central High School in 1969. Kent graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1973. Kent Zickfield, has completed his degree in Gemology and is an IJO master jeweler. He took over management of Zickfield Jewelry in 1981. In 2003, The Gift Box, a gift and collectibles business owned and operated by the Zickfield family, was combined with Zickfield's Jewelry. At that time, the store was redesigned, remodeled and re-named Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts. His wife Vicki, who managed The Gift Box joined Kent full time in the new business.

More recently, the third generation of Zickfields has joined the business and now both his son William and daughter Wendi are full time employees and are the new faces of Zickfields Jewelry and Gifts.

Combining the two stores gave Zickfields Jewelry and Gifts a wide variety of product lines and prices and created a unique business model. In addition to fine jewelry, diamond rings, and other precious stones, the store has complete departments for wedding gifts, anniversary gifts, graduation gifts, retirement presents, Christmas Gifts, Valentines Day Jewelry and Gifts, holiday gifts, remembrances and just "because" gifts. The store is unique in other ways. We offer in-store repair, ring sizing and watch service and repair. We have helped people turn an older piece into something that they feel is more "right" for their current needs. Services We Provide

The majority of repair work is done in house with rapid turn-around times. Free estimates are given prior to the work being done.

Appraisals: Zickfield's Jewelry and Gifts performs written appraisals appropriate for insurance appraisal. Each appraisal comes with a detailed description.

Bridal Registry / Wish List: We offer bridal registries to our betrothed customers and also maintain wish lists for any customer who'd like to register special gifts. Whether you want to make sure friends and family know what you've been hoping for or you'd just like to keep track of your desires personally, we're here to help.

Custom Design: Have something unique in mind but can't find it anywhere? We're happy to assist you through the process of designing a completely new piece. We'll work with you to ensure the durability of the design as well as the beauty. Ask a sale associate how to create the jewelry of your dreams!

Engraving: Our in-store engraver will gladly engrave and personalize any jewelry piece. This service is performed by machine for optimal accuracy, and is free with any purchase. We will not engrave items purchased at other stores.

Jewelry Restyling: If an item in your jewelry box has gone out of style or you simply want to try something new, bring it to us. We'll work with your specifications to create something fresh and exciting.

Pearl and Bead Restringing: Zickfield's Jewelry will custom-string your necklaces or bracelets and will always clean your jewelry before restringing. This can be done in many different styles and we're glad to work with you to create the perfect style.

Jewelry Repair: We have a repairmen trained in myriad aspects of jewelry repair. We can repair rings, earrings, pendants, chains, pins, bracelets, as well as setting stones in their original setting or a totally new mounting. We also repair costume jewelry.

Watch Repair: Watch battery replacement and repairs are done on the premises. Watch repair estimates are free.

Gift Wrapping: This additional service is completely free of charge for anything purchased in store.

Financing: Zickfield's Jewelry offers financing through. Synchrony Financial. "Same as cash" and other payment plans are available to fit your needs.

Layaway: We offer a flexible layaway plan for any item you desire. We do require an initial 10% deposit of the total purchase, not including tax. The payments thereafter may be made at your convenience in accordance to the terms. Alterations & adjustments, such as ring sizing, will be made at balance payoff. Most can be done the same day. Expired layaways will receive an in store credit for monies received.

Refunds: Refunds are accepted within 30 days of purchase. All refunds must be "in new condition" and accompanied by your original receipt or a copy of it. We do not offer returns or refunds on Estate and Clearance items. Refunds are subject to restocking fees if alterations have been performed and/or if the item needs polishing.

Returns & Exchanges: Most returns & exchanges are accepted within 30 days of purchase. Certain special orders and altered items may be non-returnable and/or subject to restocking fees.

Store Policies

Appraisals: We are happy to provide you with a free insurance appraisal on your purchase. Appraisals are performed by our Certified Gemologist trained by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

Custom Work: All custom jewelry is nonrefundable and requires a 50% nonrefundable deposit before the work begins. Full payment upon receipt of custom work will denote the client's complete satisfaction. Any items personalized, engraved, sized, altered or customized are not refundable.

Diamond Inspections: We recommend bringing us your diamond jewelry for inspection every 6 months. Our jeweler will inspect the prongs to help prevent any possible damage or loss of your gemstones. This inspection service is free for items purchased in the store.

Gift Certificates: We offer gift certificates in any denomination.

Kent studied gemology through the Gemological Institute of America and became a gemologist in 1988. He also achieved the title of 'AGS Certified Gemologist' through the American Gemological Society that same year. He is also an IJO Master Jeweler through the Independent Jewelers Organization. Zickfield's maintains a high level of professionalism in both gemological and repair serviced offered in their store.
